Happy Hump-day!! Welcome back Guest Spotlight Author Cindy Spencer Pape

Today's hump-day edition is one of my favorite parts of a week long spotlight... an interview with a character!
Sealed With A Kiss has the pleasure of introducing Valentine Holiday just in time for the romantic day coming up that's known by the same name! How cool is that?

Valentine Holiday is the youngest sibling of the Holiday family, of the Holiday Hearts series at Ellora’s Cave. You can find his story in Valentine’s Heart, out now from Ellora’s Cave.
Welcome Valentine! I thank you and Cindy so much for taking so much time out of your busy lives to hang out and share so much of yourselves with us!
I understand your family is quite unique, Valentine, will you please tell us what makes you special? According to family legend, the Holiday family is descended from the ancient Celtic and Roman spirits or gods of the various seasons. Being born on Valentine’s Day, I have special ties to that holiday, but I never really believed in my father’s stories. Not until my siblings started finding their mates through some kind of magic, each on their special days. As the youngest, I figured I was safe for a while—then I met Corazon Lopez, and it was all over for me.

Very interesting. So, what differentiates you from your kind? Do you have special abilities?  Other than being a damn good computer programmer if I do say so myself? Nope. Most of my siblings are the artistic type, so that sets me apart a little bit.

We love modest men around here, especially men as sexy as you are with a romantic streak. Tell us about your most current adventure. Right before Valentine’s Day, I started getting emails from a dating site I didn’t sign up for. So did Cora, who’s a social worker with about the biggest heart in the world. We finally met to tell each other it was all a mistake, but as soon as I saw her, all bets were off.

This would be an upcoming or new release. Feel free to share and excerpt, remember we are promoting as well as, having fun and include a release date if you have one. The story of Cora and I falling in love is Valentine’s Heart, and came out Feb. 2. Here’s an excerpt. Watch out, it’s pretty steamy!

“Shouldn’t we turn off the lights?” He loved the fact that her voice was breathy and quivering. Her coffee-colored eyes had darkened to the shade of bitter chocolate.

“Only if you want to. Me? I’d prefer to see every inch of you.” He slid his hands up under her sweatshirt and undid the back clasp of her bra.

“Okay.” She licked her lips then bent her head just a little to press a kiss on his lips—the first time she’d initiated one. “I just hope you’re not disappointed. I’m not exactly fashionably thin.”

“Good. I like my women to have curves.” He pushed her shirt and bra over her head, leaving her bare breasts right at his eye level. “Oh yeah. Perfect.” He traced one finger around a generous, tan areola then around the tightly beaded nipple, a deeper pinkish-brown.

Cora’s fingers dug into his shoulders and her spine arched, pressing her dainty breasts closer to his face. Val took the hint, kissing a line down the center of her cleavage while he brought his hands around to the sides of her breasts, squeezing them together to make a deeper valley for his tongue to trace.

“They’re sensitive, aren’t they?” he murmured, making sure his breath brushed one peaked nipple. “All pretty and rosy and brown against your creamy skin. Positively edible.” He finally settled his lips on her nipple, glorying in her gasp of indrawn breath.

Oh lord, she smelled like heaven, sweetly feminine with a hint of rose in her soap or body lotion underlying the scent of skin and sweat. He kissed her nipples in turn, first with just a featherlight brush of his lips then with more and more heat until he finally took one into his mouth and sucked.

“Val!” The sound of her crying his name was almost as heady as the taste of her. Her hands dug into his hair, holding his head in place. He switched nipples, intent on paying equal homage to both. His cock was about ready to rip through the front of his pants, but he was determined to take this slowly, to make sure she enjoyed every moment as much as humanly possible.

Cora didn’t seem to want to go slowly. Even as he sucked her nipples, her hands fumbled at the buttons on his jeans, trying to free his cock. Every time her fingers brushed against his swollen dick, he pulsed into her hands, straining against the denim of his fly until she eventually succeeded with the buttons and released the pressure. His stretchy boxers were loose enough not to be any constraint, but the feel of her hands wrapping around his aching shaft was almost enough to make him come.

Needing to regain control, he stood, setting her just far enough away from him to move her hands. Her pout was too adorable to resist, so he leaned over and kissed it then her cute, little nose even as he reached behind him with one hand and pulled back the covers. “I want this to last awhile, not be over in thirty seconds. You can play all you want later.”

“Later?” She sucked her lower lip between her teeth and looked up at him through her thick, black lashes. “Are you still going to be here later?”

“Mmm-hmm. All night, if you’ll let me.”

WOW! You weren't kidding! You really know how to make a girl blush! Umm, Where were we? Oh, that's right, business....

If you could offer your author advice, what would it be? Keep writing, even when you don’t feel like it. Your dogs and kids like getting fed.

Good advice!!! ;-)

Are you happy with the way people perceive you? I’m a pretty confident guy, but being the youngest of a big family, some of my siblings call it spoiled. Hey, I know what I want and I go for it. When it comes to someone like Cora, though, I like to think I can be giving as well.

I just bet you are...

Before I get myself into trouble flirting, why don't you tell us a little bit about your world.  I live in modern-day Charleston, SC. I’m the youngest of 5 and we all work together at the Holiday Greeting Card Company. I’m a computer programmer who never believed in magic. Not until it started happening to each of my siblings, one at a time.

Is humor important? Why or why not? Oh hell yes. Life is funny. Besides, if you don’t laugh, you’re gonna end up crying and who wants to do that?

NOT ME!!! Laughter is a big plus when looking for a man (in my opinion), but how about deeper qualities? Is expressing love difficult for you? Why? No, I’m a pretty open person. What you see is what you get. I have a close family, and parents who adore each other, so once I fell, it was easy for me to tell Cora I loved her. She had a little tougher childhood, and so I think that’s why giving in to love was a lot harder for her.

Thank you for reminding me about Cora. Your feelings for her are endearing which only inflames my envy of her!
What other characters have influenced you? Well, there’s my oldest brother, Noel. He and his wife Shelby were the first to get hit by the Holiday magic when they got trapped in an enchanted Christmas decoration (Yuletide Enchantment). That pretty much convinced the rest of us it could really happen. Then my sister Star, the next youngest to me turned into a rabbit at Easter and wound up with the love of her life (Like Bunnies). I really didn’t think it was my turn yet, but those two couples showed me that real love can happen, and it’s worth going after.

Their stories sound incredibly romantic. It kind of makes it hard to ignore.
Now at the risk of getting myself into trouble again with the flirting, tell me, what was the best sexual experience you’ve had? Read the book. It involves Cora, a clit ring, a few special toys and a private cabin at a resort in the Virgin Islands.

See, I should have left well enough alone!!! Maybe something a little more serious will cool off this interview... at least long enough for me to shake the images you've so astutely conjured.

Do you think you are a superior being? Snort. I have four older siblings. If I DID, they’d have beat the crap out of me. Hard to have a superiority complex when you’re the youngest.

Good answer! As the oldest sibling in my family, I could attest to that.

What’s the oddest thing you’ve seen or done? Well, having a magical dating site take over my  life for a couple weeks was kind of weird, but I can’t say I’m complaining about the results.

Nor would I.
So, what's it like to spend a day with you. I’m a typical computer nerd. I wake up, kiss my wife, go to work at the family greeting-card company, then come home. We’re newlyweds now, so you can pretty much guess what goes on then.

Well as a newlywed, I'm sure you have qualities that may rub Cora the wrong way as many new couples often discover, so tell me, what’s the one thing you wish you could change about yourself or someone you love? Well, teaching Cora to take time for herself has been a challenge. And I’d love it if she had a little more self-confidence.

I think your honeymoon phase may last longer than most with notions like that!
You seem pretty easy going, but how do you deal with stress? Besides spending time with Cora? Computer geek, remember? I blow shit up on X-Box. Sometimes I even get one of my brothers to come over and shoot things with me.

So men never grow out of the video game stage? Great, I am the mother of two teenage boys. Oh,  joy! ;-)

Tell us about meeting Cora. We both started getting messages from this dating site called Compu-Cupid. No matter how hard I tried to get out of it, we kept getting messages, supposedly from each other. Finally, we decided to get together, so we could each tell the other it was all a mistake. Once I saw her in that coffee shop though, I was a goner. And then Compu-Cupid sent us on a trip to the Virgin Islands. All that time together was enough to convince both of us that this was the love of a lifetime.

Awwwe! That is so romantic!! You're family has had some remarkable experiences with love!!!
You said two of your siblings are already married, as a result of your family’s magical heritage. Tell us about the other two. Any idea who’s next?  The last two single Holidays are Summer and Sam (he was born on Halloween.) Sam’s the second youngest, and Summer’s the middle child. She’s the strategy genius among us head of sales and marketing for the family firm, while Sam is a designer who developed our holiday décor line. I think he’s secretly one of the most stable and loving of us, so normally I’d bet on him falling first. But who knows? With the Holiday magic as erratic as it is, you could be seeing Summer get her Midsummmer’s Dream any time now.  (Note from Cindy: title and date are tentative, but Summer’s story is in the works.)

I wish your family would adopt me! I would love to be hit with that magic love bug, too!
Finally, is there something you wished we had asked, but didn’t?  Nope, but I sure hope you and everyone else have a happy Valentine’s Day!

Sealed with a Kiss does too!!!
Thank you so much for hanging out in the hot seat today. Please apologize to Cora for my shameless flirting. In my defense, you are the kind of man women find hard to ignore and I am sure Cora is all too aware of it!
Happy Valentine's Day to you both!

Cindy will be here a couple more days! Please be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win a download of your choice!

  2. I totally agree with you on that, Venus! He has a large family though. If all of his brothers are taken, maybe Cindy could dig up a couple of single cousins for us! ;-)

  8. Cindy, I adore the storylines for this series, and loved Yuletide Enchantment. The fact that their business is a greeting card company is such a hoot, and so creative. Thanks for letting us get to know Val a bit better. He is such a doll and I can't wait to read his and Cora's story.
