Zane Fox

Today is quite a special day for me and will go down in history as the day my literary vessel was boarded and my booty…err…blog was pillaged by a pirate.
Zane Fox, the sexy privateer from Blood and Treasure, has taken the helm and will guide us through some of his adventures set on the high seas.
My goodness, is he beautiful or what?

(Award-winning Novel) Although Lianna Whitney was gently bred, she must now empty slop buckets and fight off randy sailors in a seaport tavern to survive. One night, she unexpectedly comes into possession of a golden medallion. But when the man who left it with her is immediately murdered by soldiers of the Royal Navy, she’s afraid to admit she has it. Unsure who to trust, she’s caught up in crossfire between navy officers and a pirate captain, who, realizing she possesses the object he’s been paid to find, whisks her away to his ship during the fight.

Privateer Captain Zane Fox is not interested in the mystical healing powers the medallion is said to hold, even though the legends claim it can bring a dying man back to life. He only plans to procure the medallion, drop the chit off at the next port where she’ll be safe, and collect the money he was promised. However, as they fend off storms at sea and attempt to outrun the Royal Navy, the two are also fighting the attraction they feel for one another. But when they are captured, Zane must choose between recovering the medallion and saving Lianna from the noose. And soon it becomes clear to him that the medallion is not the only treasure worth risking his life for.

Welcome aboard, Zane, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Being a pirate must be about as thrilling an occupation, or dare I say, lifestyle as it gets. If you don’t mind, would you share with us a little bit about your world?
My name is Zane Fox and I am the captain of the feared pirate ship, Rissa. Mine is a world full of danger. Enemies and betrayal are rampant. The sea, she’s temperamental. Drink, battle, and the fine art of profiteering is what it’s all about. They call me a pirate, but I prefer the term opportunist.

As do I.
Living a life of danger and adventure has probably left you with many a tale, and I’m sure you have more than your share. If it won’t break any pirate codes could you share the most interesting thing that’s happened to you?
Absconding with saucy tavern wench, Lianna. That woman has turned the devil against me and lay me with curses and pleasures aplenty. But I’ll tell you true, I’m quite fond of her.

Lianna, huh? I’m sure she’s something else. Tell us, did you do anything special after your first adventure?
Does a mutiny constitute as an adventure?  If so, I toasted to freedom and threw back many celebratory drinks.

Maybe next time you’ll come ashore in a port nearby and my friends and I could join you for a pint or two. Visiting other ports in distant lands must bring interesting experiences, which makes me wonder, if you could pull your author into your world, what do you think would happen?
I wouldn’t pull her into my world. We have enough sharp-tongued women causing trouble here and she’d surely try to take over as captain. No doubt I’d have to hide all the rum, too.

Knowing Jennifer, she probably would do just that. She sure would make a gorgeous pirate, wouldn’t she? She’s one of those people who would blend right in if she were to travel back in time. I could definitely see her as a pirate. Personally, I would love a chance to run a real, honest to goodness brothel. LOL!
If you could time travel, where would you go?
I wouldn’t go back in time. I’ve learned to live with my regrets. But I’m quite interested in your world. I’d like to see what this internet is about. And I’m most interested in Google Earth. I can only imagine how much easier carousing around the Caribbean would be with a map like that. Oh, and I’d like to meet this fellow Johnny Depp. I understand he’s an actor famous for portraying a pirate captain. I’d fancy being the judge of that.

Johnny is quite the pirate…ahem, on the silver screen, that is, which is another cool way for land lubbers like me to enjoy pirate adventures.
I’m sure you could teach him a thing or two, but as a method actor, I think he could capture the character as well as he has Capt. Jack Sparrow.
I know, he’s tickled my fancy a time or two and whet my appetite for pirates.
What other characters would you say have influenced you?
My best mate, Blade Tyburn.  As boys, we suffered through the same misfortune. As young lads, we experienced the same taste for freedom and the skills to achieve it. As young men, we shared the same love of the sea, enterprise, and women, lots of women. We still do. We know each others strengths and weakness, and when one falters, the other beats the shit out of him.

That’s what friends are for, right? What motivates you to continue on these adventures?
I’m a pirate, love. ‘Tis what we do. Life is all about the thrill of the chase. When I win a quarry, and I always win, there’s nothing more rewarding than enjoying the spoils.

Tehehe! He called me, love…*twirls hair around finger, bites bottom lip and sighs deeply… ahhhh!
I could listen to you talk all day, Zane, but I’m sure our guests would rather I keep this moving along.
Getting back why to we’re here, perhaps I should ask another question. What’s your most favorite thing to do?
Outsmarting my enemies, of course.

I bet! Wink wink!
You seem to be a man who has his stuff together. Have you ever lost control?
More times than I care to admit. But these days I’m working hard to control my temper. Why do you ask? Did my crew put you up to this?

I’ve taken a vow of secrecy in an attempt to earn passage on a future voyage, so… I’ll never tell. There are, however, some things you could share, and I promise, you’re secrets would be safe with me. What was the best sexual experience you’ve had? (Yes, me hearties, I went there!)
Well now, lass. That’s a bit personal, isn’t it? But I’ll play along.  ‘Twas the first time I took Lianna. I can’t put my finger on it, but that little spitfire, she did something to me. Something that no other woman had ever done . . . Enough! Enough of these privy questions.

Fair enough! You’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty, and by now, I’m sure there are a number of women hoping you and Lianna don’t work out. As for me, I have thoroughly been swept off my feet and am very flattered to have had the privilege of getting to know you.
Thank you so very much for stopping by, Zane. I wish you all the best.

Come back tomorrow for another look at Blood and Treasure as Jennifer Bray-Weber shares and excerpt.
